To select the following references we focused on the following Alberta Science and Social Studies curricula: science units ‘Creating Colour,’ ‘Seasonal Changes,’ ‘Senses,’ and ‘Needs of Animals and Plants;’ and social studies units ‘My World: Home, School, Community’ and ‘Moving Forward with the Past: My Family, my history, and my community.’
