Greenlearning.ca

GreenLearning is an education program of the Pembina Foundation, and offers extensive free on-line teaching resources for teachers from Grade 4-12, plus extensive information on climate change science, policy, and solutions.  Activities are hands-on and embrace science, communication, and conservation.  Workshops are also available. more>>

Inside Education

Inside Education is a nonprofit society that provides low-cost and free natural resources field trips, presentations, and environmental education resources focused on forests, water, energy and related topics (both in ‘hard copy’ and by download). A Home Energy Efficiency Kit is free for teachers. more>>

SEEDS Energy Literacy Series

The Energy Literacy Series explores Canada’s energy sources. Links to curriculum are clearly identified and worksheets, question sets and assignments have been developed and are ready to download to support the online graphics and animation-based instruction. more>>

One Simple Act

Alberta Environment’s One Simple Act informs and engages individuals, organizations and communities, challenging them to commit to making one simple act that will help reduce waste, conserve water and reduce energy consumption. Website contains online resources such as the EcoAction Calculator and Quick Guides to Greener Living, plus info about when the Alberta Conservation Team will be in your area! more>>

Climate Change Central – ESL Teaching Notes

Climate Change Central focuses on helping Albertan businesses, communities, and individuals reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases. The site has a broad array of information in text and multimedia, and is suitable for Grade 5 and up. more>>


ERCB Kidzone

The Energy Resources Conservation Board offers a web site for kids aged 9-12, called the Kidzone. Children can learn about Alberta's oil and gas resources using interactive games, colouring pages, wallpaper, etc. more>>

Alberta's Petroleum Heritage Edukit!

This online resource is an educational tool for learning more about Alberta's rich petroleum heritage. It features teaching units, stories, historical photographs, audio, and more. more>>

Centre for Energy

The Centre for Energy is a ‘portal’ to energy resources, curriculum, publications, programs, and energy-related organizations in Canada. The K-12 section of the website is particularly relevant to teachers looking for lesson plans, searchable by grade, subject or product. more>>

myclimate ‘Hot Stuff – Chill Out’

The 'Hot Stuff – Chill Out' project scheduled for late 2009 will link school classes around the world. Students will exchange ideas about the effects of climate change in the country of their partner class. more>>

The Pembina Institute

The Pembina Institute’s Alberta Energy Solutions program aims at minimizing the impacts of the fossil fuel industry on the environment. Informative publications on conventional and renewable energy can be found here>>
