- Environmental Education Programs
- At Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park - Alberta we are proud to offer year-round education programs on a variety of curriculum-linked topics, for a variety of ages, grades, and group types.
- Bow River Basin Waterscape Poster Teacher's Guide
- A teacher's guide (elementary and junior high) to accompany the Bow River Basin Waterscape Poster distributed by the Geological Survey of Canada. Interactive, easy to use activities educate students on protecting and conserving the shared waters of the Bow River.
- Endangered Species Classroom Programs (gr 3-6)
- In this fun and educational program, your class will learn about the plight of Canada’s species at risk. CPAWS Educators will visit your classroom not once, but TWICE with games, slides, animal skulls and scat to make the subject come alive. Your class will have the chance to be part of CPAWS’ premier Action Challenge program to take positive action for nature. Our programs are integrated with your curriculum and will help students understand their role in conserving the natural world. With this program, teachers will receive a teaching kit that includes maps, posters and an illustrated activity guide to extend the experience in the classroom.
- Living Near Urban Lakes (Publication)
- Living Near Urban Lakes: Your Guide to Everyday Living in Urban Lake Communities, a new way of thinking about water in the city, this book will help you think about water in ways you may never have considered before. Have you ever wondered what happens to all hat water when it rains, or the snow melts? Some of the moisture is absorbed by the soil in your yard. And the rest of this "stormwater" ... it flows as runoff - down hills, across yards, over streets, down storm sewers, and into your local stormwater lake, river or stream.
- Outdoor/Environmental Education Visits
- Bring a group of youth or adults to Camp Warwa for 1-5 days for inspiring outdoor and environmental education. We are open year-round, providing different landscapes and material throughout the year.
- Summer Camp
- Memorable summer camp experiences for boys and girls ages 7-16. One, two, or three week programs available, each including an overnight camping trip by canoe, hike, or horse.
- Eco-brief: Prescribed Burns
- This one-page information sheet describes the practice of prescribed burning. It briefly introduces the history of fire management, designing a prescribed burn, and the pros and cons of the process.
- Eco-brief: Wildlife Corridors
- This one-page brief introduces the concept of wildlife corridors, the history of corridors in general, in Canmore and Banff, and the importance of corridors to North America as a whole.
- Jr. Naturalist
- The program is designed for children ages 6-10. Nature themes are explored through fun, games, and discovery. Junior Naturalists is a popular program, therefore the same topic is offered for two consecutive Saturdays. Your child is invited to attend ONE program per topic. Guardians are required to sign their children into this drop-in program and pick them up promptly at noon. FREE of charge to attend.
- Park Ambassador Program
- This is a volunteer opportunity for people who live in or near Banff National Park. Get outside, enjoy the mountains and share your passion for our first and foremost national park as a volunteer "hiking info centre". Training and hats and tshirts are provided. Committment is once per month for one year.
- The Canadian Boreal Forest
- Meet some of the trees and animals that call the boreal forest home. Learn about the ecosystem interactions that exist between these species.
- Solutions: What kids can do!
- Learn about forest management and ways to conserve the boreal forest.
- Endangered Species in Canada
- Find out about some of the boreal forest’s animals at risk of extinction and how vital they are to the ecosystem.
- Parks in Alberta
- Explore Alberta Provincial Parks and discover their significance to environmental protection as well as their great recreational value!
- Action Bingo
- Challenge your class or group to take on the action bingo. Complete a row, a column, or the whole card to find our all the different ways that you can contribute to a healthy ecosystem in your everyday life.
- Agro-Environmental Education Program
- The Parkland Conservation Farm offers a wide variety of programs for youth education, from pre-school to high school. Programs include Wetland Wonders, Aspen Parkland Adventures, Safety on the Farm, Rain or Shine, Storybook Farm Adventures, and many more! Youth can experience hands-on learning either on our farm, in the classroom, or at a location convenient to you! Programs are offered year-round and can be tailored to suit your needs. - My Corner of the Globe
- The Parkland Conservation Farm is proud to offer this workbook based on the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP). It is a great resource for youth in any environment, but especially for those living in rural areas, such as farms or acreages.

- A computer game has been developed to breathe life into sustainable development education by enabling students to develop resource management strategies and explore the future effects to Alberta’s wildlife, ecosystem services, and natural resource production. The game is online (www.albertatomorrow.ca) and free, and is based on cutting-edge natural resource management research and technology. Teacher guides and student activity sheets are available for the following Alberta curriculum links: grade 7 science, grade 9 social studies, junior high enviornmental and outdoor education, and grade 11 biology.
