Calgary Zoo – School Programs at the Zoo

- The Calgary zoo offers a variety of school programs designed to enhance the Alberta program of studies through hands-on experiences at the zoo. Bookings begin at the start of the school year and are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The following three programs address the grade 9 science curriculum Unit A: Biological Diversity.
The Lives of Primates Discovery Program

- This 75-90 minute program is targeted to help students learn more about primate adaptations and variations, explore reasons why many primates are endangered, and discuss conservation strategies. $150-$170*.
The Endangered Species Investigation (ESI) Discovery Program

- This 2.5-3 hour program investigates and examines threats to endangered species in Canada and around the globe. $175-$190.
Zoo for the Day: Biological Diversity

- This 4-5 hour program explores the nature of reproduction, environmental factors contributing to changes in biological diversity, and species survival through hands-on activities and encounters with resident plants and animals. $265-$290.
