Holiday Quiz: How well do you know the environmental education community in Alberta?

Try our holiday quiz, based on ACEE Needs Assessment of environmental education sector!  Thanks to the over 69 individuals and groups who gave took the time to give us their invaluable input!  The ACEE Board and staff commit to using this information as we design our 2010 program, in order to serve you better and advance environmental education in Alberta.

Try our Holiday Quiz (just 6 questions!) – jot down your answers to the following questions, then scroll down to see how you did.  No peeking!

In the December 2009 needs assessment of the environmental education community in Alberta…

  1. Which was cited as a more significant barrier:  ‘Lack of evaluation tools to measure effectiveness & improve programs “ or “lack of curriculum fit?”
  2. Which workshop would be more highly valued: “The new elementary science curriculum: what is in it, and how to develop resources that meet this curriculum,” or “How to motivate public and non-formal audiences to take action using community-based social marketing?”
  3. What % of respondents supported ACEE making ‘Getting to action: how to optimize your program to maximize environmentally responsible behaviour’ a theme that would be consistently found in many of our professional development offerings?
  4. What % of groups note that demand for their programs is increasing?  Decreasing?
  5. In which areas do organizations most want to improve their capacity: project management, or financial management?
  6. Which of the following roles of ACEE do stakeholders feel is more important: championing environmental education, or helping build capacity of EE groups?

Scroll down for answers...

Answers to questions:

  1. ‘Lack of evaluation tools to measure effectiveness & improve programs“ is a far more significant barrier than “lack of curriculum fit.” (Question #12)
  2. A workshop on community-based social marketing would be more highly valued.
  3. 95% of respondents supported ACEE making ‘Getting to action: how to optimize your program to maximize environmentally responsible behaviour’ a theme that would be consistently found in many of our professional development offerings – this is UP from 91% two years ago!
  4. 61% of groups note that demand for their programs is increasing; 4% note that demand is decreasing (Question #16).
  5. Training in project management is cited as a higher need than financial management.
  6. 50% of respondents chose ‘Championing EE’ as most important of ACEE’s five roles.

These questions were all based on the community’s responses to the ACEE Needs Assessment of the sector. We believe in transparency: to view the community’s feedback, please visit http://www.surveymonkey.com/sr.aspx?sm=QNVasWSic3bGdZFeCja_2brlaAeVlnal0iLogxvjCxdtw_3d
