Alberta Tomorrow
A computer game has been developed to breathe life into sustainable development education by enabling students to develop resource management strategies and explore the future effects to Alberta’s wildlife, ecosystem services, and natural resource production. The game is online (www.albertatomorrow.ca) and free, and is based on cutting-edge natural resource management research and technology. Teacher guides and student activity sheets are available for the following Alberta curriculum links: grade 7 science, grade 9 social studies, junior high environmental and outdoor education, and grade 11 biology. The mission of Alberta Tomorrow is to educate Albertans in the principles and practices of sustainable development by providing engaging and accessible simulation software that allows students to experience the long-term effects of land use to Alberta’s ecological and socio-economic values. The software is web-based and is linked to the Alberta curriculum.
