Calgary Zoo - Education Department
The Calgary Zoo is an internationally accredited Zoo and botanical garden. Animals and plants are organized geographically to represent global ecosystems. The award winning Canadian Wilds section offers visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the plants and animals of our own local regions. Our goal is to inspire appreciation and wonder about the natural world, and to educate people about our connections to nature. Our interactive, curriculum based programs for school groups include 60-90 minute Discovery Programs, Zoo for a Day for secondary students, the week long Chevron Open Minds Zoo School, and Grounds for Change schoolyard naturalization. We also offer a range of educational nature programs for all ages.
Non-Profit
The mission of the Calgary Zoological Society, in partnership with the City of Calgary and its citizens, is to develop, operate and promote an integrated zoological, botanical and prehistoric park, and conservation centre, for the combined purposes of recreation, education, conservation and scientific study.
