The Parks Canada (Palisades) Stewardship Eductaion Centre
The centre is a youth stewardship education centre set in the heart of a national park and in the centre of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Not only is there the opportunity to connect directly with the many significant natural features of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Site, but also within Jasper National Park there are five national historic sites representing heritage themes important to the exploration and development of Western Canada.

Our mission is to assist students to see the world around them with new eyes; to connect with nature and the cultural stories of place and to embrace the values of protected areas as their own. As part of the curricula, students participate in ongoing research and rehabilitation projects such as non-native species control and rehabilitation landscaping. Students are involved in observations and data recording as part of special projects or ongoing research that span subjects from wildlife studies to archaeology. A range of mountain recreational activities from rock climbing to photography introduce students to the mountain landscape. They learn about the dangers inherent in wild places and the rewards of taking the time to truly connect.
