Green Schools Program

The Green Schools Program encourages students and schools to do environmental enhancement projects and to communicate about the environment. The program includes resources for project suggestions and materials to recognize student and school achievements.

Creating a Climate of Change

Creating a Climate of Change includes a 52-minute video (in VHS and DVD formats) divided into 7 modules for ‘stop-and-discuss’ viewing, 70 pages of print background information, 70 colour transparencies, and a CD containing of the background and transparencies in PDF and a PowerPoint presentation. With this program is included Teaching Activities for Climate Change which is a 2-3 period activity that encourages students and their families to try a number of energy-saving actions that will reduce greenhouse gases and save money.

Energy Literacy Series

The SEEDS Energy Literacy Series is a web-based program at www.seedsenergy.ca that explores the sources, uses, technologies, and issues of ten renewable and nonrenewable energies. Segments of textual information have rollovers with descriptions, diagrams, animations, and photos. The program uses flash animation that is accessible with high and low speed Internet connections. The program includes a teacher’s resource. A free CD-ROM of the graphics and animations is available for teachers.
