Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) Calgary/Banff Chapter

The Calgary-Banff chapter of Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) works to protect wild ecosystems in parks and protected areas. One of the best tools to do this is education: teaching about basic ecology and the conservation of Alberta’s wildlife and ecosystems increases environmental literacy and builds an ethic of environmental responsibility. Through our unique education programs, we seek to create a community of knowledgeable, empowered citizens who engage in stewardship and positive environmental action to conserve ecosystems, wilderness and protected areas.

Non-Profit

CPAWS envisages a healthy ecosphere where people experience and respect natural ecosystems. We will achieve this by: - protecting Canada's wild ecosystems in parks, wilderness and similar natural areas, preserving the full diversity of habitats and their species; - promoting awareness and understanding of ecological principles and the inherent values of wilderness through education, appreciation and experience; - encouraging individual action to accomplish these goals; - working co-operatively with government, First Nations, business, other organizations and individuals in a consensus-seeking manner, wherever possible.
