Outward Bound
We help deliver on this Framework outcome:
Outcome 4-4: EE programs improve in order to meet the guidelinesWhat we are currently doing to deliver on the outcome:
- Delivering effective, integrated programs focussed on environmental leadership, experiential and outdoor education through summer camp "EcoVentures" and integrated high school programs
- Using "low impact" methods of fostering deep emotional connections with nature
- Environmental Service Corps in youth and adult expeditions currently offered in Alberta
In the future we plan to deliver on the outcome by:
- Establish sustainably-designed education centre based on an Alberta property on the Little Red Deer River
- Begin to offer sumer camp and high school programs at the centre
- Establish partnerships with Alberta organizations, schools, boards, service project providers (e.g. monitoring programs) to collaborate on implementing our strengths (experiential education, wilderness exploration, leadership) into EE plans
- Contribute to ACEE by consulting with Framework stakeholders
- Participate in working group identifying standards of excellence in EE
- Continue to expand pilot projects (e.g. in Milerville and Oilfields schools)
Measures of success:
- More and expanded partnerships with schools and boards
- Integrate new resources and partnerships into summer program
- Integrated high school program is well-known and informed by EE standards of excellence as developed by the ACEE Framework
